Too Small

I bought the New Balance MW749 shoes. Based upon recommendations in other reviews that they do run small, I ordered a 1/2 size larger than my true foot size in 3EEE. Both shoes are still too short and too narrow in the toe area. The back of the shoe is wide but who needs width in the heel anyway.

Do not buy these, you will be returning them just as I will be.

Too Small, Uncomfortable

My husband bought these shoes, and they were too tight and small, even when he was still siting down. So we will have to return them.

Great Shoes

These shoes are just what you can expect from New Balance. Great comfort, great style, and great fit.

Tough, light, and easy on your feet

I love these! (I started with a pair of
the 747s, went to 749s when those wore out).

In terms of weight, these almost feel as light
as tennis shoes, but they absorb a lot of
shock, and the sole is excellent for rough
trails, or even fording streams. Once I had
to take a pair--almost right out of the box--
on a 37 mile hike (+ a 50 lb. pack):
No soreness of any kind!
I have wide feet, so the 4E width is a godsend:
I don't need to order my shoes longer to make
up for needed width. In short, it's an affordable
shoe that delivers almost boot performance with
casual shoe comfort.
I'd like to balance all this good with a drawback...
but I honestly have had nothing but great experiences...

p.s. "Country Walker" is a sweet name, but all 3
of my pairs have been used for pretty serious hiking...
it's a very sturdy shoe.

p.p.s. The star rating on this shoe should be higher...
numerous reviews have low scores, when it seems
pretty obvious that the consumers simply don't have
the right size shoe. "4E" sounds SUPER wide, but it
doesn't look freakishly wide to me. It just feels GREAT!
I wish all shoes had these width options!

Narrow but good

Nice shoes. I read elsewhere that NB tends to be narrower than listed. If you are an E width get the 2E, if you are 2E get the 4E. I am closer to 3E, but went with the next 1/2 size up in a 2E. Should have gotten the 4E and probably in the right size. Would have been a better fit. It is close enough that I don't want to go through the hassle of an exchange.
