It's simple: They're solid!
The simplicity of these sandals is an elegance of design. They boast a good balance of firmness and cushyness which is made even more comfortable by the small bumps across the surface where you place your foot. These bumps may help with the distribution of weight on your feet; because I have worn these sandals nearly every day for over a month - totaling to easily 100 miles of walking, on many surfaces - and I have been glad to have them. One thing about me is that I have slightly wide feet. My feet did not fit properly into the complicated straps of many sandals I have tried. The simplicity of design in these shoes appears to result in a sandal that fits many different shapes of feet. The strap is not adjustable, a limitation that may have resulted in the blisters of another reviewer. However if the girth of your foot is close to average I don't foresee a problem. The strap is to me both durable-looking and reasonably comfortable - it's basically not noticeable while walking. Some people may also be interested in the ecological profile of these sandals. For me that was mostly a bonus. I was looking for a simple, durable, comfortable pair of sandals and I found them in these Simple Men's Cushee Sandals.
Blisters...
These shoes are fine for scuffing around the house or yard, but don't buy them thinking they'll be comfy enough for daily wear or long-term wear. My son wore them for the weekend at home, no issues. Wore them to walk 10 minutes to his mailbox, had blisters on both sides of his feet. He does love the footbed padding and for the price, they're a decent shoe. We just wouldn't suggest wearing them to a theme park or other places where you'll have to walk for extended periods of time.
